December 2011
We lost Bold Magestrate yesterday. She enjoyed 4 healthy years of retirement.
We were reminiscing last night about all she meant to us. I remember Michael Dickinson, trainer of DaHoss, telling me she was the first horse he trained in the USA. I have her win photo from the Bryan Field Stakes which she got in 56.3. The jockey makes “Maggie” look even smaller than she was. She was 15.1 maybe if she had long toes and shoes on. In spite of her size, Michael Dickinson always referred to her as “The Crusher”. We loved her for what she produced for us, and for her personality. She did everything with great gusto like when she would roll and shake off, she would do her signature groan/growl which you could hear all over the farm. She was always in “fast forward, leave me alone mode”. We will miss her.
